THE BLACK GAZE EXPERIENCE
We are experiencing a renaissance in Black British Culture. A liberation of black creativity and an ownership of our stories, but why have we not been able to make a mainstream impact?
An invitation to discuss what visibility has looked like and showcase a wider spectrum of what blackness in reality looks and feels like - with the goal of making blackness as universal and diverse as whiteness.
Introducing The Black Gaze experience - an exploration of how “looking, being, acting, sounding, dancing black” impacts mainstream spaces.
An evening of black stories, art, culture & creativity and a chance to witness live performances during the experience. We will explore themes such as The Black Gaze, Colourism, Tokenism and Tropes all through the lens of selected artworks by Anthony Van Dyck featured in the National Gallery.

THE BLACK DIASPORA EXPERIENCE
In collaboration with the National Gallery Friday Lates,
Create IRL presents an interdisciplinary exploration on THE BLACK DIASPORA EXPERIENCE- A HOME FROM HOME.
An evening of black stories, art, culture & creativity, music, film and poetry and a chance to create live art during the experience.
On the night we explored the themes of The Motherland, Identity & Roots, Tribes & Villages, Unity through the lens of selected artworks featured in the National Gallery.
